Client Videos: CAP Oil Change Systems

Client Web Videos for Joe Shupe

CAP Oil Change Systems has been around for nearly 10 years but the inventor / original owner had not been able to keep up with sales and production due to a serious illness. So, Joe Shupe bought the company from him to develop the customer base and grow the company.

He worked with my business partner Reed Dillon to develop the brand and website. Then Reed brought Duvall Media’s web marketing experience to the project to help support the overall strategy. We proposed a joint venture arrangement where we produce a series of web videos aimed at driving highly targeted, high converting traffic to their new website.

Here are some of the videos we have produced so far with more on the way.

Client Videos: Product Demos for SleepSafe Beds

Client Web Video for Sue Plaisance

Sleepsafe Beds is a manufacturer of safety beds for children with disabilities like cerebral palsy, mental retardation, and other neuromotor dysfunction. These conditions make sleeping in a traditional bed too difficult or even dangerous.

Duvall Media was hired to produce a series of short product demonstration videos to help accomplish several goals including consumer education, brand awareness and search engine optimization.

To help the client save money, they requested that we use one of their employees, Chris Perry, to shoot and edit the video. Their sales director Susan Plaisance wrote and starred in the each video.

Once the videos were created, Duvall Media optimized and syndicated them over several weeks to grab multiple positions in the Google Search Results.

We also worked with their web master in New York to install, customize and integrate a blog into their existing website. The challenge was to make it simple to use so the staff could easily make updates without having to rely on their webmaster who can be expensive and sometime slow to respond. They also wanted to make the user experience seamless.

Client Videos: Show-case Shutters

Client Web Videos for Shan Carroll

Show-case Shutters manufactures high-quality custom plantation shutters for home and business interior design. Located in Christiansburg, Virginia, they were a leading provider of plantation shutters for Home Depot throughout the mid-Atlantic region.

Today, they are looking to diversify their distribution network by supplying interior designers, paint stores and window treatment stores nationwide. They hired Duvall Media to help them re-design and optimize their website, develop marketing materials, a new logo and color scheme and help develop marketing strategies to achieve their growth goals.

Here are some of the web videos we shot on location at their manufacturing facility. These web videos are meant to drive highly targeted traffic to their squeeze page as well as grab additional positions in the search results.

Client Web Videos for Geoffrey Zimmerman

Geoffrey Zimmerman is an author of a number of articles and several published books including the romantic adventure novel trilogy “Love Never Dies.”

He wanted a website to help build his fan-base as well as promote his other works including poetry, short stories and screen plays. Geoffrey hired Duvall Media to create his web site and we proposed that he do a series of simple video interviews where he tells some of the background and inspiration behind his writing.

Here are some of the videos we produced using just consumer-grade video cameras and editing software.

Client Featured on “Our Blue Ridge” T.V. Show

Congratulations to Linda Balentine of Crowning Touch Senior Moving Services for getting featured on the local t.v. show called “Our Blue Ridge” which airs at noon each week day.

The short video clips of the auctions and bidding process were excerpts from videos we produced for Crowning Touch as part of our joint venture to help them promote their business. You might notice that the clips look a little grainy. That’s because the t.v. station pulled compressed video files from our online video hosting account instead of using the actual raw video from the original tapes.

You can see the Linda’s interview below and be sure to stop by her auction to place some bids. They really do have great stuff.

The Top 5 Reasons Video is the Best Social Media Tool

One of the most powerful ways to reach mass audiences and engage them online is with video.

Video allows you to not only see and hear the message being promoted but also lets you see and hear the person doing the promoting. Video allows you to get caught-up in their enthusiasm and emotion, to see their passion & sincerity, to judge their honesty. Video lets you more fully share in the experience better than any other medium, second only to being there live and in-person.

Video also has a number of powerful advantages when used in online marketing efforts. Here are my top 5 reasons why you should be using video NOW.

  1. Video provides “stickiness” to your website. This means visitors to your website will stay longer and look at more pages when you give good, value-laden video content. Not sure what content makes good video? I tell my clients to video everything… your trade show appearances, client testimonials, product demonstrations, your manufacturing processes, quality testing & control processes (hint: people love to see things get destroyed during product testing… especially in slow-motion). It’s all good for video and gives your prospect or customer more opportunity to get to know you and your product or service.
  2. Search engines love video content. Properly titling, tagging and describing your videos with your chosen keywords will significantly improve your search rankings. I used a simple Flip video cam and recorded my 16 year old son’s high school science experiment then uploaded the video to the web at 8:00 am. By 11:00 am that same morning the video had the top 4 positions on page one of Google. By that afternoon the video had also picked up positions #6 and #8.
  3. Video can be contagious. That is… it can go viral faster and easier than other forms of online content because of built-in video sharing tools common in most video hosting sites. For example: many of the YouTube videos produced by BlendTek promoting their blenders have more than a million downloads. Take a look at Matt Harding’s video called “Where The Hell Is Matt?”  Matt traveled the globe and spent 14 months to produce the video. It has pulled over 22 million downloads in just the first few months of its release. It’s no coincidence that the music industry has adopted the use of online video to promote their artists’ records. People share what they like and video sharing tools make it easy.
  4. Video is interactive and social. Today, most video hosting sites allow people to comment on videos. Viewers are no longer merely watchers but can post their own thoughts about your video right there on the video page and engage you and other viewers in a conversation. Savvy marketers like you encourage & respond to these comments to build relationships with your audience. YouTube even allows you to post video responses to videos and comments… which takes the conversation and interaction to an even higher level.
  5. Hotlinks can be embedded in the video. Some of the top video hosting sites today allow hot links to be embedded directly into the video so that viewers can click the link and jump to your landing page. Nonprofits like CharityWater.org use this very effectively to raise money for their cause by taking viewers to a “Donate Now” page as soon as the video ends while the donor prospect is still emotionally engaged and most ready to give. YouTube is monetizing video by embedding clickable ad overlays onto videos. These ads pop up at a specified point during the video.

There are more reasons that video is so powerful but these are my top five with embedded links being my favorite.

If you aren’t using video for your web marketing efforts then you need to start right now.
Fast is better than good. Don’t get bogged down in producing perfection, just get your videos recorded. You can worry about editing and polishing the videos later. I recommend that your start with client testimonials… even if all you do is read the letter on camera and show a close-up of the letter. Better yet, schedule a time to meet with some of your local clients and get their testimonial on camera. People want to know what others think of you and getting those comments in your clients’ own words is more powerful than any marketing you could write for yourself.

Dominate Search Engine Results In Your Market

Why settle for merely showing up somewhere in the search engines when you can literally dominate the search results for your market with multiple positions?

The search engines rank websites based on a complex mathematical formula called and algorithm. This algorithm changes from time to time so that marketers can’t figure out a way to cheat the system. But there are a number of known elements that search engines like to use when ranking websites. For example:

  • The age of your website. Older sites tend to rank higher than newer sites.
  • Freshness of your content. Websites with fresh content tend to rank higher than stale, static websites.
  • Relevance of your content. Websites with focused, relevant content tend to rank higher than broad, unfocused sites.
  • Links to your website. Websites with plenty of in-bound links from other sites tend to rank higher than sites without in-bound links (also called back links).
  • Speed of your website. Websites that load fast tend to rank higher than slow loading sites.

Let’s consider one of the oldest, largest sites on the internet… YouTube.  How many of the above criteria do you see used on YouTube?

Age: Been around a long time (in terms of internet years).
Freshness: More than 10 hours of user-generated content (video) uploaded every minute.
Relevance: It’s all video… all the time.
In-bound links: Just imagine how many other websites link to YouTube videos. Countless millions.
Speed: YouTube loads fast.

The more of these criteria you use on your website the “optimized” it is for the search engines. Search Engine Optimization is the art and science of applying these criteria to your website so you can rank high in the search results. If you are not actively and constantly engaged in SEO for your website then you will fall behind your competition… eventually. The benefit is that the results tend to be long-lasting or slow to change. The drawbacks to traditional SEO are that it is labor intensive, grabs one or two positions in the search results and usually takes time before you see results.

BUT… there is another way.  It’s called Content Ranking.

Content Ranking is the art and science of leveraging the awesome traffic-pulling power of the internet giants like video sites, social networks, blogging and more. The benefits are that you can grab multiple positions in the search results very quickly… like in hours, not days or weeks.

The drawbacks are that it also requires fresh content and the results tend not to last as long as traditional SEO. That is why I recommend doing both at the same time for total domination of your market.

For example: I recorded my son’s high school science project with a little Flip video camera, and then edited it with Windows Movie Maker. The next day at 8:00 a.m. I uploaded it to the web using a FREE syndication tool. Then I went back online to check the Google results at 11:00 a.m.

What I saw amazed me.

We had grabbed the top 4 positions on Google for our keywords. I checked again at 2:00 pm that same afternoon and saw that we had also picked up positions #6 and #8 on Google. We were able to hold these positions for more than 6 months for our broad keywords but eventually our content was pushed down in the rankings by newer content.

It has been more than a year and a half but we still hold the top 4 positions for our very specific keyword phrase. So, the strategy works well, works fast and the effect can last long term.

Another Example

I did some of the same strategies for my client who is selling her wine store. I spent a few hours with her at the store shooting some video where she recommends various products… including her favorite Sake. I then uploaded the video to a high reputation website so that the video would rank well. I haven’t even syndicated the video to other hosting sites yet but take a look at the results so far.
