Publish Your Blog To The Amazon Kindle

You can now publish your blog posts to the Amazon Kindle and reach a larger audience.

It’s really simple to set-up. You will be asked for account information, though. Amazon wants to know where to deposit the money you earn from people subscribing to your blog for the kindle.

I set mine for direct deposit into my business account.

With Kindle’s growing popularity and rapid rise of mobile devices now at 5 BILLION, I think it’s time we make our content available to these markets. Don’t you?

Another key platform you need to be considering for your content is iTunes. If you can take the time to write a blog post, then why not record an audio version and publish it to the iTunes platform so that market can listen on their iPods and iPads? What about the Droid market with more than 100,000 apps already?

There are easy ways to do this and I will be covering them in future posts. Stay tuned.

Recommended: Plugin Makes Your WordPress Website Mobile Friendly

If you plan on staying competitive then you need to take your marketing mobile.

There are more than 5 billion mobile devices in use today. Many of them are smart phones with web browsing capability. The average teen today sends more than 3,300 texts per month with girls out-texting boys nearly 3 to 1. Even if you are online with a website but it’s not formatted for mobile devices then you are missing out on a large, active and rapidly growing market.

Part of what makes WordPress such a great content management system is the large number of plugins available to enhance functionality.  One such plugin is designed to make your WordPress website mobile friendly by automatically formatting your content for mobile devices. It’s called WPTouch.

WPTouch by BraveNewCode is quick and easy to install. It’s even easy to configure once it’s installed. You won’t notice any difference in how your website looks when viewing it on a desktop or laptop computer. But pull out your iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad, or other mobile device and look at your website.

What you see is your content formatted for easy viewing on the small mobile screen. If you scroll all the way to the bottom of the screen then you’ll see a button for returning to the normal web view. Click it and suddenly you see your website looking the same as it does on any computer.

If you don’t see a button in the footer of your desktop view that lets you return to mobile device view then you a probably missing a small bit of code from the footer of your desktop theme. Simple go to your WordPress dashboard, select Appearance, Editor, and then select Footer.php to edit. Paste this code: wp_footer(); into the footer code just in front of this bit of code… ?> Then click the Save button and view your theme. You shouldn’t see much change except when viewing your site on your mobile device. You should now see a button that lets you return to mobile view.

Pretty sweet and I highly recommend it.

There are two versions… one is FREE and the Pro version is only about $20. Try the free version and play with the settings before you spend the $20 on the pro version. I think you’ll love it.

Client Videos: Super Synergy 2010 Event

Duvall Media sponsored Super Synergy 2010 by providing video production services to capture the event as well as offer $1,000 worth of web video production to everyone who signed up with Synergy that day.

I was one of eight featured speakers that day. My presentation focused on the Five Things Business Owners Need To Know Right Now.  Each speaker only had eight minutes to give the highlights of their topic.

Client Videos: Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce 2010 Small Business Awards

Client Videos for Joyce Waugh

Duvall Media sponsored the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce 2010 Small Business Awards by teaming up with Lynda Foster of Wheeler Broadcasting and SynergySessions.org to produce a series of short interviews with the nominees.

We shot the videos at the event and then immediate set out to edit and upload the videos that same evening so they would be online for viewing in time for the morning drive-time radio announcements on WFIR. Darin Britt, also with Wheeler Broadcasting, texted me the winners in each category so that I could create the graphics and include it in the video.

Editing, rendering and uploading to the web took all night but it was well worth it… creating a brand of rapid response and reliability for Duvall Media. (Hint: That’s part of the reason why we use the blue lightning box logo.)
