How To Start A Movement by Derek Sivers

O.k. so now I’m getting all inspired by TED videos. They have awesome content. What else can I say?

I’m all about how to be more effective with your online marketing. This video has a few GREAT ideas that apply to many aspects of business, including online. When I was the CEO of Dirtsurfer USA we were trying to get others to join our crazy sport of inline boarding. We had a few followers but we never could seem to reach the tipping point. People felt the “risk” of doing the sport was too high. It would be interesting to apply the concepts in this short video to Dirtsurfer today.

How Great Leaders Inspire Action by Simon Sinek

The core idea contained in this video can transform your organization, your sales, profits. It will definitely transform my mindset on how I approach content creation and online marketing.

Thanks to my friend and fellow Dirtsurfer Tim Mellor from the U.K for sharing this TED video with me.

Our Interview With Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell

My good friend and business mentor, Lynda McNutt Foster sent me an email yesterday about asking the Governor’s office to support a project we’ve been working on together called Spotlight On Small Business and the Expand Contest.

Duvall Media built the SpotlightOnSmallBusiness.com website and did all of the video interviews you see on the site as well as sponsored the Expand Contest. So we’re pretty heavily invested in making this project a success.

Lynda called me last night and asked me if I could be downtown to video her interview with the Governor. It just so happened that he was in town for a political fundraiser for Virginia Senatorial candidate Dave Nutter. Of course I agreed. So I grabbed my video gear and ran downtown to capture the moment. We also managed to snag an interview with Senator Morgan Griffith and Dave Nutter.

You can go to our project website to watch Lynda’s interview with Governor Bob McDonnell.

Vimeo Launches PRO Account for Business Video Use

Vimeo Launches Pro Account For Business Use

My favorite web video hosting service launched their PRO account for business use yesterday.

Vimeo is a leading video hosting company that primarily serves the creative community. Their terms of service prohibit commercial use video hosting. This didn’t stop lots of businesses from hosting their business videos on Vimeo, though. So, like any good business they took a cue from their customer base and created a new and separate hosting community for businesses.

Vimeo also added some pretty sweet features like unlimited custom portfolios so you can totally brand the display page for your business or clients. They also added video review features so you can share your video projects with clients for their review in private before releasing the final approved version for public viewing.

They also upgraded the amount of video storage and bandwidth usage for the Pro Account from 5 gigs to 50 gigs per week. There are plenty of other great features worth checking out if you are going to use web video for your business.

I instantly upgraded my Vimeo Plus account to the Pro Account and moved my videos over to my company portfolio so that I could be in compliance with their terms of service. I STRONGLY recommend that you do the same.

Now, if they would just offer an affiliate program…
