Hi Brian,

I hope things are well with you. Business is going great here on the West Coast, partly due to the idea you gave me about "producing a year's worth of social media video content in one 3 hour shoot". I've run with that idea and it's really taken off. People definitely see the value. So thank you!

Hi, Brian.

Just wanted to let you know that we have gotten numerous comments about our website recently.

One parent said last night that our website was the best Martial Arts website in the area. They loved the kid’s videos especially.

We have also signed up at least 15-20 additional students since the new website posted.

Thanks again for helping us to grow our business!

Have a great weekend,
Nicki and Bryan Cochran

The Roanoke Regional Small Business Development Center has used Brian on numerous occasions to teach classes on Internet Marketing. Brian has also presented at our Virginia State SBDC conference and was very well received. Brian is always informative, entertaining and holds the attention of the participants. Brian is extremely knowledgeable in the area of Internet Marketing and is really an expert in the area of video, especially using video on a website. Brian has worked with several of my clients with great success. I can highly recommend Brian for doing presentation, or for Internet marketing, website and video work.

It is with great pleasure that I can recommend Brian Duvall to receive the Small Business
Advocate of the year award presented by the Roanoke Chamber of Commerce.

I first met Brian as a seminar leader presenting no-cost sessions on maximizing web marketing. After attending these for several months, we continued with a personal coaching relationship, and also have attended many of his public seminars on web video, web marketing, and social media.

Our company publishes the Roanoke and New River Valley Apartment Guides, and have done so for the past twenty years. During the past year, our websites, FindGreatApartment.com, and Apt-Guide.com were badly in need of upgrading. Brian spent countless hours with us helping with the design and implementation of these sites as we remodeled them. Without question, his input made a significant and positive impact on the usability and effectiveness of these sites.

After the sites were active, he recently worked on them to improve their SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and the improvements were immediate and dramatic.

Brian is the kind of person who gives without expecting an immediate return. Brian has spent many hours counseling both my wife and myself during the past year as we learned to understand the ever-evolving web marketing vehicles and language. On several occasions he traveled with me personally to give hands-on instructions as we learned to produce on-site apartment videos to embed in our site. These videos, thanks largely to his input, have been quite successful for us. So bottom line: we couldn’t think of a more deserving person to receive this award! He is professional, caring, and deserving.

Nominee for Small Business Advocate of the Year
Brian Duvall is the ultimate supporter to the success of small business owners in Southwest Virginia. He stands quietly behind the camera, or his computer, crafting videos and websites that will help promote or educate hundreds of small businesses in our region over the last few years.
Brian has volunteered his time, talent, equipment, and most of all heart and soul to Synergy Sessions and its participants. He is the first one with his hand raised to serve on any committee, be involved in any project, donate any time or resources, to any project that will help small business owners succeed more quickly. He has selflessly given of his time to record interviews with most of the nominees for the small business awards for the last two years, given away thousands of dollars in free video production to help small business owners promote their businesses on line, and has been a top level educator for Synergy and the workshops we hold through the RRSBDC.

Synergy continues to offer ways to help small business owners in our region and it can only do that because of the tireless support and efforts by Brian. Synergy would not exist or be able to continue without him. We keep our revenues as low as is possible to operate so that we can help as many small business owners as possible. Because of those slim margins it is necessary for us to depend on Brian to help keep our websites updated at no fee to him.

I remember the first big project we did together where I asked him to please help me interview nominees for the small business awards. He jumped on board without hesitation! He filmed all the interviews and then ran back to his office and stayed up all night long to get them edited because we wanted the nominees to wake up to see their interviews on line and be able to use them to promote themselves on their own websites and on the Chamber’s site. He’s driven for hours just to get interviews with the heads of the SBDC’s for the state, and has spent weeks working on projects that we thought would help just one small business owner become more profitable.

Brian has never complained one time about all the time and work he has put into helping our organization move forward or the time he has spent volunteering to teach business owners how to use internet marketing to build their businesses. He is absolutely, without a doubt, the wind beneath the wings of Synergy and so many of our participants and we value, honor, and appreciate him. I hope your committee will do the same by awarding him the 2011 Small Business Advocate of the year so that the whole region can know what we’ve know for a very long time – Brian Duvall is a tireless champion for small business.
